Financial Support for Program Participants

The ITS Center is one of several National Science Foundation (NSF) Centers for Learning and Teaching nationwide working to bring about a regeneration of leadership in research and teaching in science, mathematics and technology.

Because of NSF funding, ITS Center participants benefit from a variety of financial support that is dependent upon their level of involvement with the program.

All accepted candidates receive:

Summer Stipends

The ITS Center provides stipends to students enrolled in the ITS Center 12-hour core coursework. Stipends are intended to offset related costs, such as books, housing, meals and travel to and from the Texas A&M campus. In addition, ITS Center participants who choose not to remain on campus full-time during the academic year are eligible for additional stipends to be used in implementation of the classroom research project designed during the previous summer session.

Tuition and Fee Waivers

Tuition and fees are waived for the 12 hours of core coursework.

In addition, degree candidates can apply to receive:

Additional Tuition and Fee Support

Additional tuition and fee support is available to degree candidates for degree-related coursework.

Assistantships

Applicants who meet departmental requirements and show sufficient interest in ITS Center goals can qualify for nine-month assistantships, which are eligible for renewal for a maximum of two years. In addition, there are opportunities to add a quarter-time teaching assistantship through some departments at Texas A&M.
