Research Opportunities
The ITS Center provides an environment that promotes ongoing development of research questions and projects relating to the use of information technology to teach and learn science and mathematics. In addition to providing access to the tools needed to explore these research topics, the ITS Center also provides access to classrooms.
All candidates benefit from:
Interdisciplinary Project Teams: The Final Project
Team members work together to develop a topic, gather information, discuss theories and create a final project to present upon completion of each summer session. The goal is to gain experiences and create information that can be brought back into the field to aid teachers in transferring current research into the public school system. In addition, degree candidates participate in:
Science Education Research: Thesis or Dissertation
Degree candidates also must engage in independent research leading to a thesis or dissertation that contributes to the research goals of the ITS Center. Science Education Graduate Students' topics are centered around the teaching and learning of science. Science Graduate Students work with their committees to incorporate an ITS component into their science research..
