Science Education Specialist Program
Break out of the traditional mold for graduate study and become a part of an adaptable, flexible program that reflects current happenings in science and mathematics! The ITS Center features experience and instruction unique to you and your educational interests.
***All participants must be admitted into graduate school at Texas A&M University.***
Option 1: Certificate Program
This program for certificate candidates consists of two summer sessions spread over two years and results in 12 hours of graduate credit that may be applied toward a degree. Each summer, participants spend three intense weeks on the Texas A&M campus as part of an interdisciplinary project team that works to connect current science research to classroom practices.
Option 2: Degree Program
The ITS Center 12-hour core can be incorporated into a master's or doctoral degree program through several departments at Texas A&M University, including Chemistry, Educational Technology, and Teaching, Learning and Culture. ITS Center degree candidates design unique graduate school experiences that combine the development of technology skills and pedagogical content knowledge as they pursue independent research leading to a thesis and/or dissertation that contributes to the research goals of the ITS Center.
How can the ITS Center fit into a degree program?
The strength of the ITS Center program lies in its flexibility. If you are interested in the ITS Center experience, you may opt to enroll as a certificate candidate and later incorporate the resulting 12 hours of graduate credit into a degree. Or you may choose apply to a degree program at Texas A&M University and talk with an advisor in that area to create a customized degree plan that includes the 12-hour science education specialist core component (see picture below).
